Sustainable lifestyle focus of Ateneo-hosted ASEAN University Network conference

Promoting sustainable lifestyle and behavior will be front and center in a regional conference of the ASEAN University Network on Ecological Education and Culture (AUN-EEC), to be held at Ateneo de Manila University.

The first AUN-EEC conference on Cultivating Ecological Mindsets and Lifestyles will be held on January 16, 2020, which will see plenary speakers from various universities from the member-states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The workshops and plenaries will focus on a range of topics such as Information Education and Communication (IEC) strategies toward sustainable lifestyle and behavior, the role of ASEAN graduates with ecological mindsets, and many more.

There will be paper presentations which will focus on sustainable consumption and production, as well as best practices towards ecological education.

Meanwhile, two workshops will tackle the following:

  • Movement Design for Sustainability: The workshop will tackle how we can use movement design for theater to serve as a medium to convey five sustainability concerns (single-use plastics, fast fashion, food waste, mobility, and green spaces).

  • Engaging the Community in Urban Biodiversity Monitoring and Conservation : A workshop that will focus on how people can use various communication channels that could be used to build a citizen science program for urban biodiversity monitoring and appreciation.

Admission to the conference is free, but registration is required. For more information, please visit the AUN-EEC website or email auneec.secretariat@gmail.com.

The AUN-EEC was formed in November 2018, with the aim of developing "a citizenry among Southeast Asian nations that can make wise choices reairlinegarding the impact of anthropological activities, having the mindset and competencies to conserve and preserve the environment as they face the challenges of social change and economic growth."

Ateneo de Manila University serves as the host institution of the AUN-EEC.
