Ateneo partners with Charles University Prague

The Ateneo de Manila University, together with and Charles University in Prague, signed a cooperation agreement on April 6, 2016 to promote the exchange of students and professors.
 
The Ateneo is the first Philippine university to partner with Charles University, the oldest and largest university in the Czech Republic established by the Holy Roman Empire in 1348.
 
Ateneo's Vice President for University and Global Relations Fr. Jose M. Cruz, SJ signed the Memorandum of Understanding with Charles University Rector Tomáš Zima. Aside from student and faculty mobility, the agreement will promote scholarly activities such as joint research projects and the possibility of organizing conferences, symposia, seminars and workshops on areas of common interest to both institutions. The academic partnership will involve Charles University's Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Faculty of Arts, and the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Present during the signing of the agreement were First Secretary and Consul Juan E. Dayang Jr. of the Philippine Embassy in Prague, and Mr. John Carlo P. Uy, Ateneo de Manila philosophy instructor who is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at Charles University.
 
The MOU signing coincided with the 5th ASEM Rectors' Conference and Student Forum (ARC5) hosted by Charles University from April 6 to 8, 2016, which was attended by Fr. Cruz, SJ. The ARC5 carried the theme,"Employability: Asia and Europe Prepare the New Generation."
