Ateneans to represent the Philippines in a student entrepreneur competition

Nicolas Antonio Carunungan (4 BS Management of Applied Chemistry) will represent the country in the regional competition of the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) to be held in Bangkok, Thailand.

Carunungan’s company BioScrub, Inc. took home the grand prize of the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO) GSEA Philippines 2016 competition. The contest is open to all college student entrepreneurs who own and operate a for-profit business operational for a minimum of 6 months at the time of competition. BioScrub, Inc. manufactures and distributes Rough & Tough Heavy Duty Hand Scrub, a highly effective industrial hand scrub used to remove powerful stains from the skin. Other members of BioScrub, Inc are Neil Dominic Florcruz, Carlo Gabriel Chan, Mary Grace Chua and Jeff Carlson Guo, all senior BS Management of Applied Chemistry students. From their Php 250,000.00 prize money, the group gave PhP 50,000.00 to the Loyola Schools’ John Gokongwei School of Management (JGSOM).  Carunungan will be the country’s representative GSEA Finals slated in May 2016. He will also attend the regional competition of GSEA in Hong Kong on February 26-28, 2016. Carunungan will be joined in Hong Kong by Chase Colin Yao, another senior BS Management of Applied Chemistry student.

Yao’s company, Cura Doma Corp, won 2nd place for Neutro, a moisture-absorbent patch that eliminates foul-smelling odors.  Other members of Cura Doma Corp. are Pianne Nicole Sinfuego, Phoebe Faith Vano, Mary Bernice Dee, Ma. Kathryn Jessica Castillo and Maria Francesca Ocampo, all senior BS Management of Applied Chemistry students.  From their PhP 150,000.00 prize money, the group gave PhP 30,000.00 to JGSOM.
