Tanghalang Ateneo play wins in 2015 ALIW awards
The Tanghalang Ateneo play "Rite of Passage: Sa Pagtubu kang Tahud" was named Best Non-Musical Production for 2015 at the recent ALIW Awards held in Pasay City.
“Rite of Passage: Sa Pagtubu kang Tahud” is an adaptation of a Kinaray-a short story by Maria Milagros Geremia Lachica. The Carlos Palanca-award winning play was written by Glenn Sevilla Mas, Theater Arts Instructor of the Fine Arts Program and was directed by Ronan Capinding. In fact, the play was first staged in the United States as one of Mas' projects for his MFA in Playwriting.
The play was Tanghalang Ateneo's second production for its 36th season and delved into the complexities of coming of age.
It also received four other nominations, Best Stage Director (Non-Musical) for Ron Capinding, Best Actor (Non-Musical) for Cholo Ledesma, Best Actress (Non-Musical) for Frances Makil Ignacio and Best Actress in a Featured Role for Camille Abaya.
