ACED gets boost from Ateneo alumni couple

More undernourished public school students in Victoria, Tarlac stand to benefit from the newly blessed central kitchen located at Victoria Elementary School, Victoria, Tarlac. The kitchen was built in partnership with Ateneo Center for Education Development (ACED) through the generosity of Atenean alumni couple Melissa Yeung- Yap (AB DS 2007) and Christian Yap (AB DS 2007; AB Com 2009).  

At this central kitchen, the preparation and cooking of the meals for school children of 18 elementary schools, including Victoria ES, will be done. ACED had provided operations training but the formal launch and blessing was held on November 9, 2015.

Fr. Bienvenido F. Nebres,S.J.  together with Mr. and Mrs. Yap, led the formal blessing of the kitchen. Also in attendance were the following: Mayor Candido Guiam of Victoria, Tarlac and the Sangguaniang Bayan; DepEd District Supervisor Ernesto Bayno; DepEd Medical Officer, Dr. Aileen Mangahas; ACED Director Dr. Carmela C. Oracion;  and principals of the 18 public elementary school principals  and parent- volunteers. ACED staff members Misael Francia, Joel Loanzon and Amy Perez trained the principals and parent-volunteers on the preparation, cooking and the serving of simple but nutritious meals for the lunch of the school children.
